CCMC Digital Aquarium
Inspired by Long Island’s ocean and shoreline, the design of the Cohen Children's Medical Center Emergency Department features abstracted images of sea life surrounded by sand and water. For the waiting room, LAB at Rockwell Group created a fifteen-foot wide interactive aquarium where visiting children can create their own fish on one of six iPads and then release them into the tank. In the virtual sea, the fish swim with sea turtles and submarines as they scurry around for feeding time. The installation helps children gain a sense of control over their environment while collectively experiencing the joy of creating a beautiful underwater world.
